(Hopefully the last) winter haiku

Distant blue hilltops
Dusted with snow
Trees budding

Oak tree branches
Western sides painted white
Stand naked in snow

Maples tapped
Kettles sweetly boil
Standing in the snow

Daffodils refuse
To open burgeoning buds
Blanketed with snow

    Relentless snow falls
    From monochromatic clouds
    One more no-spring day

    “Maples tapped
    Kettles sweetly boil
    Standing in the snow”
…I’m not sure why this stood out amongst the rest, but I love this stanza. It’s so visual to me.

You’re making me long for New England, Mims, dear. Beautiful haiku. You are a woman of many talents… 🙂
