sediment

reminders come as wisps of
coffee, Colgate

French press, porcelain cups
left to cool over conversation
oak-stained tables,
the rings left behind

I knew I would love you
from the first slide
of my tongue ‘cross your teeth
gritty with minty freshness

I believe
the dregs always
are slightly bitter

A bittersweet poem, Whimsy, but rendered beautifully. Hope you enjoy your Wednesday. Hello from Bill as well.

🙂 bittersweet but in many years hindsight. It was folgers not really french press…but that sounded better. 🙂 Colgate toothpaste was what my grandma used as well to take water rings off wood…so its a double dip when I smell it. You know? Hello to both of you! I’m hoping to be in Chicago for 2 days in May for a conference…I’ll let you know if that pans out!
