sweet … Haiku Friday 4.24

your teeth sink into

the powdered sugar donut

it dusts your black shirt

snow still caps the mountaintops

faintly visible at dawn

sugar on your lip

I remember the sweetness

well after dinner

honey in green tea

steam rises from the surface

faint smile on your lips

leaning against the window

you long for the mountains

I watch you sip tea

a smile flits across your face

that is not for me

my lips graze your neck

as you gaze out the window

light painting cheekbones

while your head tips to the left

wordlessly asking for more

Tanka 4.23

the north wind cuts through

our masks and sweaters sharply

stealing away breath

my hand curling within yours

warm and safe in your pocket

Audio: my personal meteor shower

Adding an audio file ala Johnny Crabcakes style …

Issues with this posting, so I dropped it into SoundCloud.

Haiku 4.21

blue sky overhead

dandelions sprinkled on

a wide field of green

the brightness outside

was not reflected by the

warmth of the sunlight

her wide, sparkling smile,

radiating across rooms,

never reached her eyes

Tanka 4.18

I stand at the sink

your hand trailing down my arm

lips brushing my neck

I turn and lean into you

as breakfast begins to burn

Haiku 4.17

ten hungry robins

polka dot the lawn searching

wet grass for breakfast

Haiku 4.16

branches clack loudly

wind percussionists beating

the world like a drum

Haiku 4.15

just a moon sliver

shooting stars illuminate

paths across the night

The lyrid showers are starting next week here.

Haiku 4.13

Bitter winds cutting

through layers of warm clothing

Spring in name only
